Jonas Brothers, BTS, Olivia Rodrigo And City Girls: 5 Songs Making Moves On The Hot 100

Jonas Brothers, BTS, Olivia Rodrigo And City Girls: 5 Songs Making Moves On The Hot 100

Last week, Olivia Rodrigo scored her second No. 1 debut on the Hot 100 with “Good 4 U,” which opened in first place with ease. This time around, that pop-punk track is replaced at the summit by the most popular group in the world...though Rodrigo isn’t far behind, and she ensures this frame belongs to her in other ways.

Here’s a look at five of the most important moves on this week’s Hot 100 singles chart.

No. 1 - BTS - “Butter”

For the third time in their career, BTS debut a new single atop the Hot 100, as “Butter” kicks off its time on the Hot 100 as high as a cut can climb. The summer-ready smash starts at No. 1 thanks to healthy streams (it opens at No. 4 on the Streaming Songs chart) and one of the largest sales frames in the past several years (it sold nearly a quarter of a million copies). “Butter” is BTS’s fourth chart-topper, as one other tune from the group ascended to the throne.

No. 9 - Olivia Rodrigo - “Traitor”

As her first album Sour debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with one of the largest sales weeks in recent memory, Olivia Rodrigo also rules over the Hot 100 in many ways. She claims three spots inside the top 10 this time around, and though “Traitor” isn’t the highest-ranking of the bunch, it is new to the tier. The song, which is thus far just an album cut, opens at No. 9, giving the teenage musician her fourth placement in the top tier.

Rodrigo occupies 11 spaces on the Hot 100 this week, as every song from Sour finds space not just on the tally, but inside the top 30.

No. 33 - Polo G & Lil Wane - “Gang Gang” slotpg

Just a few weeks ago, Polo G scored his first No. 1 on the Hot 100 with his long-awaited single “Rapstar.” This frame, another new cut titled “Gang Gang” opens inside the top 40, launching at No. 33 thanks in part to the inclusion of Lil Wayne. Both titles are featured on his upcoming album Hall of Fame, which he just announced is coming next Friday (June 11).

No. 51 - City Girls - “Twerkulator”

Hip-hop duo City Girls are back on the Hot 100 for the fifth time in their career with their latest single "Twerkulator," which enters the race at No. 51. The tune is thus far unattached to any project, but the women who make up the exciting group may announce something else soon, especially considering the fact that it has become a quick hit for them.

No. 85 - Marshmello x Jonas Brothers - “Leave Before You Love Me”

Both Marshmello and the Jonas Brothers are working on new albums, and though it’s not clear if their joint single “Leave Before You Love Me” will be featured on a full-length from either act, it’s wonderful to have them back on the charts. The poppy cut starts off at No. 85, which is a fairly low position for them, though this may be just the beginning for the tune.
